This white paper, prepared by the ELIXIR Biodiversity Community, summarises the current status and responses, and presents a set of plans, both technical and community-oriented, that should both enhance how ELIXIR Services are applied in the biodiversity field and how ELIXIR builds connections across the many other infrastructures active in this area. We discuss the areas of highest priority, how they can be implemented in cooperation with the ELIXIR Platforms, and their connections to existing ELIXIR Communities and international consortia.

Sharing sensitive data in life sciences: an overview of centralized and federated approaches

An EOSC-Life and ISIDORe paper


Here, we examine and compare the centralized and federated data sharing models through the prism of five large-scale and real-world use cases of strategic significance within the European data sharing landscape. Our analysis indicates that centralized models facilitate data linkage, harmonization and interoperability, while federated models facilitate scaling up and legal compliance, as the data typically reside on the data generators premises, allowing for better control of how data are shared.

Queen Mary University London joins the UK Node


Queen Mary University of London has officially joined ELIXIR UK. Queen Mary's will enhance ELIXIR UKs mission by focusing on interdisciplinary collaboration, data management and advanced analytics. QMUL brings expertise in three key ELIXIR-aligned themes: AI for Drug Discovery (AIDD) Academy, genomic medicine and rare disorder research and data stewardship for biomarker discovery and precision medicine.

WorkflowHub and nf-core collaboration enhances workflow accessibility


WorkflowHub has integrated nf-core community workflows into its registry, improving the accessibility and visibility of computational workflows. Led by ELIXIR UK and ELIXIR Belgium, and in collaboration with the Australian BioCommons, this development makes high-quality, best-practice workflows more accessible to researchers and stakeholders in the scientific community.
