First Implementation Study
Implementation Studies have grwon into a considerable body of work within ELIXIR. This initial study set the ground for future activities, as such it was not nearly so well developed.
Deliverables
- Provide Beacon Content - work together with the ELIXIR Nodes from the Netherlands, Sweden and Finland to partner with large national cohort owners and flagship projects. The data from these projects will be used as content for the Beacon. Report on month 12.
- Provide ELIXIR reference Beacon implementation – work with the EGA to provide a general technical solution that will (1) support queries over very large datasets, (2) can be integrated as part of the ELIXIR technical architecture and (3) includes technical and process documentation supporting Beacon establishment in other ELIXIR Data Nodes after pilot completion. Report a reference implementation on month 12.
- Standardize data types that will be made available from the Beacon with appropriate authorization level: (1) fully public, (2) requires registration and (3) DAC authorization required. For example, should Beacon provide allele frequencies for all registered users? Arrange workshop on month 6 to produce a policy report and report best practices guidelines on month 12.
- Communicate the reference implementation such that further Beacons can be established in ELIXIR Nodes.
