Following the discussion at the Heads of Nodes TC on 8 December, we hereby share with Heads of Nodes the following two documents for agreement by Written Procedure:
- ELIXIRHON/2022/25 - Ambitions and outcomes & Part A version3 of the 2024-28 ELIXIR Programme
Niklas Blomberg, Director of ELIXIR since its formation in 2013, announced that he will be stepping down from the role at the end of 2023, coinciding with the completion of the 2019-23 Scientific Programme. The ELIXIR Board has initiated the search for a new ELIXIR Director and appointed a search committee with recruitment opening shortly.

Extension of deadline - Request for nominations for open ExCo position
Heads of Nodes (HoNs) were informed via e-mail on 6 April that due to limited gender balance in the nominations received for the one open ExCo position in the Compute Platform, we have extended the deadline for nominations until Monday, 1 May.
ELEAD aims to increase the number of women in ELIXIRs upper management and to support them to develop leadership skills in line with the values of the ELIXIR community. The ELEAD pilot consists of a mentoring scheme, professional training and guidance in key leadership skills. It builds on ELIXIR Spain experience of the Bioinfo4Women programme (B4W).
Registration open for Heads of Nodes Retreat, May 2023
The registration link for the ELIXIR Heads of Nodes Retreat was sent to Heads of Nodes on Tuesday, 14 March. All relevant information regarding accommodation arrangements can be found on Eventscase.
Heads of Nodes planning to participate in the Retreat are asked to please complete the registration by Friday, 14 April.
The meeting agenda and relevant documents will be circulated to Heads of Nodes on 27 April.
Please note that there will be no Weekly Brief on 10 April (Easter Monday).
ELIXIR and BBMRI-ERIC, the European research infrastructure for biobanking and biomolecular resources, have announced a strategic collaboration with the signing of a joint statement. The organisations will work together to support synergies in scientific collaborations!

145 peer-reviewed papers and preprints resulting from activities funded by ELIXIR were published in 2022. As a research infrastructure, the activities that ELIXIR funds yield a diverse range of publications.
