New ExCo of the Compute Platform

We are happy to announce that Jana Broncov will be joining us from the Czech Node as our newest ExCo of the Compute Platform. Jana will be replacing Ludk Matyska and will begin in her position on 1 January 2024. We would like to send a big welcome and look forward to working with her!

Job vacancy: ELIXIR Project Manager

ELIXIR is seeking two Project Managers, preferably with experience in European Commission (EC) or Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) projects. The Project Managers will be responsible for the management of ELIXIR STEERS project and EOSC-ENTRUST project among other grants.

An ISIDORe & BY-COVID paper

This paper describes how the ISIDORe project undertook an iterative, step-by-step, process to build a community-approved living document, identifying good practices and processes, on the basis of use cases, presented as proof of concepts. International fora such as the RDA and EOSC, and primarily the BY-COVID project, furnished registries, tools and online data platforms, as well as standards, and the support of data scientists. The authors discuss how data management and reuse can be further improved through the use of knowledge models when writing DMPs and, how an inter-RI network of data stewards could contribute to the establishment of a community of practice.

CAID prediction portal: a comprehensive service for predicting intrinsic disorder and binding regions in proteins

An ELIXIR paper

Intrinsic disorder (ID) in proteins is well-established in structural biology, with increasing evidence for its involvement in essential biological processes. As measuring dynamic ID behavior experimentally on a large scale remains difficult, scores of published ID predictors have tried to fill this gap. The authors present the CAID Prediction Portal, a web server executing all CAID methods on user-defined sequences. The server generates standardized output and facilitates comparison between methods, producing a consensus prediction highlighting high-confidence ID regions. The CAID Prediction Portal is a valuable resource for researchers interested in studying ID in proteins.

The ELIXIR Federated Human Data Community Day aims to bring together members of the ELIXIR FHD Community to share ideas, update on relevant projects happening across Europe and internationally, and provide professional networking time around FHD-related special topics. The meeting will include presentations, breakout sessions, and dedicated Birds of a Feather professional networking time.

Register for the RDM Community F2F/hybrid & Implementation Study Kick-off Meeting

The Research Data Management (RDM) Community will hold its F2F/hybrid Meeting in December. The aim is to get together as a newly established Community and start the join work and community exchange. The Community F2F/hybrid meeting is followed by the Implementation Study kick-off meeting.
The meeting will include presentations, workshops and participant engagement. An agenda will be shared closer in time to the event.
