This Staff Exchange will involve a coordinated effort across several ELIXIR Nodes to refine and formalise how the FAIR principles should apply to training materials. The work will consolidate ongoing discussions from the ELIXIR Training Platform and wider training community into a coherent framework. A series of targeted virtual meet-ups will be organised throughout the year to gather feedback, test wording and align the proposal with existing best practices.
The work will involve preparing and submitting an open-access, peer-reviewed article outlining the FAIR principles for training materials. The document will give trainers and learners a guide for developing, sharing and maintaining training content across ELIXIR. The publication will also recognise ELIXIR’s contribution as a promoter of FAIR and open practices in science education.
The activity will strengthen the collaboration between the participating Nodes, give the Swiss Node visibility for its leadership role in FAIR training and provide the coordinating staff member with solid experience managing a multi-Node initiative from concept to publication.
