ELIXIR funds three new projects to support Node and people development


ELIXIR has funded three projects addressing the Node and people development ambitions of its Scientific Programme for 2024 to 2028. These complement eight projects, launched in January, focussing on the Programmes scientific and technical goals.

ELIXIR is looking for an experienced bioinformatician to work closely with the ELIXIR Compute Platform and the ELIXIR Data Platform. This position also plays a key enabling role in the identification and promotion of the ELIXIR Core Data Resources and Deposition Databases.

A Solve-RD paper


The Solve-RD project brings together clinicians, scientists, and patient representatives from 51 institutes spanning 15 countries to collaborate on genetically diagnosing rare diseases. The project aims to significantly increase the diagnostic success rate by co-analysing data from thousands of rare diseases cases. This paper reports on the data infrastructure, devised and created to support this co-analysis, enables users to store, find, connect, and analyse data and metadata in a collaborative manner.

Comparison of ovarian mRNA expression levels in wild and hatchery-produced greater amberjack Seriola dumerili

An ELIXIR Italy paper


This study compares the ovary transcriptome of greater amberjack sampled in the wild with hatchery-produced breeders reared in aquaculture sea cages in the Mediterranean Sea. This research is part of a broader research effort examining the transcriptome of the entire reproductive axis in greater amberjack of both sexes and enhances our comprehension of the mechanisms underlying the appearance of reproductive dysfunctions when fish are reared under aquaculture conditions.
