Using machine learning, the authors identified 64,643 pathway figures published between 1995 and 2019 and extracted 1,112,551 instances of human genes, comprising 13,464 unique NCBI genes.

'Modeling COVID-19 pandemic using Bayesian analysis with application to Slovene data'

Researchers at the University of Ljubljana (ELIXIR Slovenia) describe a framework for modelling the COVID-19 pandemic. They offer a model that estimates the reproduction number of SARS-CoV-2, the number of infected individuals and the number of patients in different disease progression states in time.

In October, ELIXIR-NL took part in the national BioSB meeting for the Dutch bioinformatics and systems biology community. It was held online this year and had two ELIXIR-NL sessions: FAIR resources & training and Data integration.

Updates from last week's RDA conference

Rob Hooft hosted the session RDA in the Life Sciences to discuss the transition of the ELIXIR Bridging Force IG into a group representing data infrastructures in Europe, Africa, Australia and USA. The discussion on the transition will be carried further in the mailing list for the RDA group.

BSC (ELIXIR-ES) is completing the installation of a large infrastructure that will hold up to 165 petabytes of scientific data.

They are looking for a name for this machine. At the BSC annual meeting, an internal committee will select the 10 best proposals and the BSC staff will choose the final name.
