Hub updates

ELIXIR publishes publishes position paper on FAIR Data Management in the life sciences. The paper supports the EOSC Declaration from July 2017.

Jerry Lanfear has joined the ELIXIR Hub as new CTO. Jerry takes over from Rafael Jimu00e9nez, who has served as ELIXIR CTO from 2014 and who is coming to an end of his nine-year tenure with EMBL-EBI and ELIXIR. Until the end of his contract Rafael will keep working on key projects within ELIXIR and in close collaboration with Jerry.

ELIXIR is partner in eTRANSAFE, a new u20ac40 million project funded by the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI), which began on 1 September 2017. The project aims to develop an advanced data integration infrastructure and new computational methods to improve security in drug development process.

The Heads of Node Committee meeting takes place this week in Basel, Switzerland. Summary of of the discussions and outcomes will be shared in the comming weeks.

Updates from Platforms

The ELIXIR Data Platform is now accepting proposals for Implementation Studies to start in 2018. The Data Platform will fund 3-6 Implementation Studies. For more information watch the recording of last week's webinar that outlined the was application and review process. The Tools Platform is holding workshop Benchmarking: Incentives and Best Practices across Scientific Disciplines - Abstracting from Established Evaluations on 12 September, as part of the BC2 Conference in Basel, Switzerland.

EMBL-EBI is looking for Biocurator to join the Data Coordination and Archiving Team. The post holder will contribute to EU projects EMBRIC and ENVRI+ where EMBL-EBI represents ELIXIR.
