Key Contributors Update 5 February 2016

ELIXIR All Hands special

The ELIXIR All Hands meeting, taking place at the CCIB - Centre Convencions Internacional de Barcelona in Barcelona, 7-10 March 2016, is an opportunity for members of the ELIXIR community from across the ELIXIR Nodes, and collaborators from partner organisations, to come together to review ELIXIR achievements and activities so far and discuss plans for the future.
We look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible!

Registration

Registration is free and open to all representatives from ELIXIR Nodes to attend.

Register now before registration closes 14 February 2016.

Programme for the event

A full programme for the event is now available via the ELIXIR website.

We have updated the meeting programme with breakout session topics and also added a joint session with ELIXIR Rare Disease Use Case and the RD-CONNECT community. There is no need to sign-up in advance for the breakout sessions and we will provide more information on plans for each session closer to the meeting.

Flash talks and posters

We welcome flash talks and poster presentations from the ELIXIR community!

This is a great opportunity to present your Node service or share the results from Hub-funded activities with everyone. Signify your interest in a poster or flash talk when you register to the meeting. If you have already registered but not yet submitted a request, please email allhands@elixir-europe.org before 14 February 2016.

Registration for Satellite meetings

We are also very happy to confirm that registration is now open for two exciting satellite meetings:

  • ELIXIR Beacon Workshop
  • Satellite meeting for training and data searching

The ELIXIR Beacon Workshop will bring together experts from ELIXIR and GA4GH to discuss the three-level data access model that aims to provide scaleable and secure query interface especially for the sensitive human data. The agenda includes speakers from both ELIXIR and GA4GH Beacon projects to ensure compatibility of the technical, policy and regulatory frameworks. Sign up for the workshop here. The Satellite meeting for training and data searching will comprise two parts:

The training part of this satellite meeting will highlight and bring together the BD2K TCC and the ELIXIR training platform and their respective training portals, TCC portal and TeSS ELIXIR training portal. During this meeting we will identify synergies between these and discuss potential collaboration. Join us if you are interested in training, interoperability, integration and promotion of training information.

The data searching section of the satellite will focus on three aspects concerning metadata and align with the forthcoming FORCE2016 meeting; micro tagging for indexing and discovery; federated metadata searching; and a hands-on 'searchathon'.

Sign up for this satellite meeting here.
