The groundbreaking ceremony for the new Technical Hub building took place on Wednesday 13 June. Once constructed, this building will house the staff who will work on the ELIXIR Hub. The funding for the new building, which is being constructed on the site of the Genome Campus in Hinxton, Cambridge, has been committed by the UK Government.
Professor Janet Thornton, ELIXIR Preparatory Phase Co-ordinator, officially broke the ground at the event. Dr Alf Game from the UK's Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) and Vice-Chair of the ELIXIR Interim Board, gave a key-note speech during the ceremony.
