The SIB Training Group in collaboration with sciCORE - the scientific computing center of the University of Basel and one of the technological platforms of SIB - are hiring a Bioinformatics Training and Support Specialist (80-100%) to support training and research services.
The ideal candidate has a PhD degree in bioinformatics, computational biology or a related subject, and enthusiasm for training. Some postdoctoral experience and a track record in teaching and/or outreach and training, at a university or elsewhere, are a plus. The content of the training courses to be developed and offered can be adapted to the background of the candidate, however we are particularly interested in expertise in the broad areas of genomics and protein bioinformatics. A solid grasp of statistics and proficiency in at least one programming language are required. The primary working languages will be R and Python. Experience in high-performance computing would be an asset.
