Provide your feedback to ELIXIRs Biodiversity, Food Security and Pathogens (BFSP) strategy
Deadline: 11 November 2024
ELIXIR Hub is sharing the current draft of the BFSP strategy for ELIXIR wide comments. The current version of the strategy was put together by BFSP co-leads, thanks to ELIXIR members' input via meetings, workshops and offline activities. To improve the strategy, please add any relevant comments as you see fit and the BSFP co-leads will consider your comments going forward.
The next steps include a presentation to the Scientific Advisory Board early next year.
Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with Physilia Chua and Katharina Heil. Thank you!

AIUPred: combining energy estimation with deep learning for the enhanced prediction of protein disorder
An ELIXIR-funded paper
Intrinsically disordered proteins and protein regions carry out important biological functions without relying on a single well-defined conformation. As these proteins are a challenge to study experimentally, computational methods play important roles in their characterization. One of the commonly used tools is the IUPred web server which provides prediction of disordered regions and their binding sites. This paper presents AIUPred, a novel version of IUPred which incorporates deep learning techniques into the energy estimation framework.

Comparative Markov state analysis for studying effects of drug candidates on disordered biomolecules
An ELIXIR Czech Republic paper
Computational study of the effect of drug candidates on intrinsically disordered biomolecules is challenging due to their vast and complex conformational space. The authors developed a comparative Markov state analysis framework to quantify changes in the conformational distribution and dynamics of a disordered biomolecule in the presence and absence of small organic drug candidate molecules. The CoVAMPnet method is broadly applicable to study the effects of drug candidates on the conformational behavior of intrinsically disordered biomolecules.

An online survey about researchers on RDM and FAIR principles
Deadline: 8 November 2024
Do you use, manage, or share sensitive health data for research? This online survey aims to find out the level of knowledge and understanding researchers who work with sensitive data have about research data management (RDM) and the FAIR principles, and what the incentives and barriers are to good RDM and FAIR practices in research using sensitive health data. The survey will take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete.
