12 internal projects receive funding of 1.6M euros to support ELIXIR’s scientific strategy

ELIXIR has invested a total of 1.6 million euros in 12 projects to address the scientific priorities of the Scientific Programme 2024-28. The projects form part of three larger initiatives, called Commissioned Services, which support activities that connect experts in ELIXIR Nodes and Communities to develop the long-term strategy of ELIXIR.

Applications for funding were invited in ELIXIR’s three priority scientific areas: cellular and molecular research; biodiversity, food security and pathogens; and human data and translational research. The successful projects demonstrate objectives aligned with ELIXIR’s overall goals and connect ELIXIR’s expert groups through location (Nodes), research domain (Communities) and technical area (Platforms).

The three Commissioned Services run from January 2024 for three years and provide leadership and support strategy development in each of the scientific areas. The newly announced projects start on 1 January 2025, last a maximum of two years and form work packages of the three Commissioned Services.

The tables below list the projects funded, along with the Nodes and Communities involved in each proposal. Further details on the projects can be found by clicking on each section header.
