Deadlines for submission of Proposals for Commissioned Services
Nodes wishing to submit proposals for Commissioned Services aiming to begin in January 2024 are asked to submit them to proposals [at] elixir-europe.org by Tuesday, 15 August 2023.
The review process will be as follows:
- Administrative and financial review
- Content review
- Approval of successful proposals by the ELIXIR Director
Relevant dates:
14 September 2023 - Proposals presented to Heads of Nodes for consultation
30 October 2023 - Proposals presented to the ELIXIR Board for approval
January 2024 - Projects of approved proposals begin

Collaboration with Armenia through Horizon Europe Twinning
We have been approached by the Armenian Institute of Bioinformatics who would like to partner with experts from ELIXIR Nodes in a Horizon Europe Twinning proposal (HORIZON-WIDERA-2023-ACCESS-02-01). In particular, they are looking for partners with experience in establishing national databanks or with the capacity to support the data stewardship training to build and successfully implement a genomics database. A summary of their idea is here:
NBI.am will build a national bioinformatics infrastructure in Armenia forming the necessary capacity, first of all by focusing on human resources via educational, staff exchange, and project-based learning activities. It also aims at establishing a central repository for genomic data in Armenia and a bioinformatics core facility to support life science research and collaboration. NBI.am will also increase the research excellence capacity and reputation of the participant organizations with strategic projects, namely the Armenian Atlas of Cancer genomes and a new software tool for the identification of cancer biomarkers from cell-free DNA. The project will establish strategic networking with the EU, supporting closer links with ELIXIR. The increased capacity and networking will ultimately promote the establishment of modern biotech and clinical genomics sectors in Armenia and close the apparent gap in innovation within the EU.
