The ELIXIR Czech Republic Node and ELIXIR Estonia Node will work together to deliver a structured, hands-on training programme designed to strengthen bioinformatics and statistical competency among researchers. The initiative responds to a clear demand from Czech Node users to acquire the practical skills to analyse their own data more effectively and reduce dependency on commercial analysis tools.
The two Nodes will jointly develop and run a five-day workshop covering skills that span introductory and more advanced levels. Participants with little prior experience will be introduced to the essentials of RStudio and data visualisation, while those working with transcriptomics will gain practical exposure to Unix, Python and related workflows. The training will use real-world examples and will focus on enabling attendees to analyse their datasets with confidence.
The exchange will expand the training portfolio of ELIXIR Czech Republic and improve long-term collaboration with ELIXIR Estonia, who have established expertise in data-analysis education. By designing the workshop collaboratively and adapting it to user needs, both Nodes are expected to benefit from shared methodologies, more efficient use of teaching resources and a deeper understanding of training requirements within their communities.
This activity will showcase how bilateral collaborations can address training needs across the ELIXIR network. It will contribute to developing a more consistent approach to bioinformatics education and help ensure researchers across Europe can access training that reflects current practices in data-driven life science research.
