Querying human genomic data becomes more powerful with the release of Beacon V2

Beacon provides a technical solution for researchers to query sensitive human data from across country boundaries, without compromising privacy. This new, enriched version allows its users to more rapidly identify the existence of specific sequences across multiple datasets and avoid unnecessary complicated access requests. This work is also a great example of ELIXIR's continued and fruitful collaboration with the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (News, 25 May 2022)

ELIXIR AAI migrates to Life Science Login

The precursor of the Life Science Login was the ELIXIR Authentication and Authorization Infrastructure (ELIXIR AAI), a flagship ELIXIR resource, which has received significant investment from its member countries. The Life Science login is now integrated with services provided by 12 other life science research infrastructures, and still operated by ELIXIR (News, 4 April 2022)

Collaboration creates a new national registry of training events, materials and trainers

An excellent example of the value of knowledge-exchange, in this case enabled by a Collaboration Strategy between two sibling research infrastructures (ELIXIR and the Australian BioCommons). The impact of being able to draw on the experience of international peers is demonstrated by the launch of a new training events and materials portal for Australasia based on ELIXIR’s TeSS.

Hidden REF award to Guide to Pharmacology

This ELIXIR UK resource has received a hidden REF award, as part of a national ‘competition’, supported by publishers and learned societies. This competition is designed to celebrate and recognise the range of important research achievements that may not fit neatly into traditional research impact metrics.

New report shows open data is at the heart of innovation

Packed full of testimonies from private-sector users of open bioinformatics resources, along with quantitative evidence of the usefulness of these resources to support innovation beyond academia.
